While it doesn’t take much time to do a simple cook of fish, I think many of us don’t want to “clean up the mess that cooking fish makes.”
Yes, there probably will be some splatter from the pan, but a quick wipe with a paper towel is usually enough to wipe clean the stove top. A gas range might need a little more effort, but it should still be minimal compared to the value (monetary and health wise) of eating a nice piece of fish. Some of the type of seafood might not be familiar to you. Ask for them at a quality fish market; the person behind the counter might not have it, but can probably offer a good alternative.
An additional benefit of eating fish without all the batter is that you are taking in fewer fats and carbohydrate grams — another health benefit. Are you willing to give it a[nother] try? Oh, yes, the section has recipes for more than just fish. How about scallops? Crab?
